The 30th Uncle Sam Jam kicks off Independence Day weekend on Thursday, July 3, at Lafreniere Park with a star-studded lineup. Headlining the free festival are Don McLean, famed for his iconic 1972 anthem “American Pie,” and country music legends Shenandoah. McLean, a Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, will perform hits like “Vincent” and “And I Love You So,” while Shenandoah will deliver fan-favorites, such as “Two Dozen Roses” and their Grammy-winning “Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart.”
The festival also features performances by the Marine Forces Reserve Band, Louisiana artist Payton Smith, and Bottomland, a versatile ensemble known for its diverse instrumentation. Adding a patriotic touch, the National World War II Museum’s Victory Belles will sing classic American tunes during the festival’s signature fireworks show.
Uncle Sam Jam is a free, family-friendly event. Gates open at 3 p.m. on July 3 at the Al Copeland Concert & Meadow Stage in Lafreniere Park.
