Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly fire that happened Friday morning in Metairie.
The fire happened around 8:40 a.m. in the 800 block of S. Sibley St.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they observed smoke from inside the home.
Once the fire was out, they found an unresponsive elderly woman on the floor inside the home.
She was suffering from fire-related injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Firefighters believe the fire was accidental but are still working to determine the exact cause.
The identity of the victim is not available for release at this time.
