The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics team is warning residents of overdoses after four suspected overdose deaths from “pink cocaine” also known as “tusi”.

Three men and one woman ranging from 25 to 60 are believed to have died from the drug in the past seven days.

TPSO narcotics have also found this substance during at least two drug arrests in the past week.

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, pink cocaine is a powdered mixture of substances, dyed pink, but not containing cocaine at all. It has been found to contain a combination of illegal substances including ketamine, MDMA (ecstasy), methamphetamine, and fentanyl.

TPSO is encouraging residents to avoid illegal drugs but also be aware of what is being sold on the street.

Deputies say if someone encounters the drug, please refrain from using it and report it to their office.

As a reminder, TPSO participates with Operation Angel, a program offering those struggling with addiction to turn to the sheriff’s office to seek treatment, at no charge, without fear of consequences. If you, or a loved one, wants help through Operation Angel, individuals can come to any TPSO office or call 985-747-9696.
