One of the suspects accused in a hazing incident that led to the death of a Southern University student had his bond conditions set Monday, according to a report by Louisiana First News.
According to the report, Isaiah Smith was in court Monday, where a judge denied his request to leave the state for a family member’s funeral and also ordered he not speak with co-defendants in the case or carry a gun.
Smith, 29, is facing criminal hazing charges after Caleb Wilson died. Smith later bonded out of jail.
If Smith violates the conditions of his bond, the judge said he would revoke it.
Another suspect arrested in the case, Kyle Thurmon, is expected to have his bond conditions set Monday as well.
A third suspect, Caleb McCray, 23, had his bond conditions set May 29.
He has to wear a phone tracker and was ordered not to have a gun by the judge. His next court hearing is in October.
Wilson was a junior engineering student at Southern University. He was also a member of the Human Jukebox marching band.
He died on Feb. 27, when investigators say he was punched in the chest multiple times during a hazing ritual for the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
