From there, things got interesting.
Starting pitcher Zac Cowan struggled in the second inning, giving up five runs.

Evans struck out 9 hitters in a row, from the final two batters of the fourth inning, to the first batter of the seventh inning.

LSU would take the 6-5 lead in the seventh inning on a groundout to second base by shortstop Steven Milam.
Then in the eighth inning, it was Hernandez once again.
This time Hernandez cleared the entire stadium in left field to give the Tigers the 7-5 lead.
