Authorities are investigating a video circulating online that reportedly shows escaped inmate Antoine Massey, who is still currently on the run.
WDSU has chosen not to show the video as we work to verify its validity and the claims made in the video.
Law enforcement agencies, including the Louisiana State Police, FBI, NOPD, and OPSO, have been contacted for additional information.
Authorities said they have seen the video but cannot confirm its authenticity, and they are investigating.
In the video, Massey requests that the media circulate his video, a request WDSU is not currently honoring.
Sheriff Susan Hutson issued a statement on the video:
“The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office is aware of a video circulating online that appears to show Antoine Massey, one of two individuals still at large following a recent escape from the Orleans Justice Center.
“If the individual depicted in the video is indeed Antoine Massey, we strongly urge him to come forward and turn himself in to the proper authorities. Cooperating with law enforcement is in his best interest and may help avoid additional charges. It is important that justice is served appropriately and that due process is followed.”
We continue to work closely with local, state, and federal partners to ensure both individuals are safely apprehended. Anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111. You can remain anonymous.”
Michael Kennedy, Sterling Williams attorney stated the video “Doesn’t change anything for Sterling because our position is the statements in the affidavit were mischaracterized.”
Massey and Derrick Groves have been on the run since May 16.
A $50,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of each inmate.
Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 1-800-Call-FBI or send digital tips to fbi.gov/neworleansfugitives.
